Like Mother, Like Daughter

Last night we were kneeling down for family prayer and Dan busted out laughing. He said, "Your hair and Halle's hair looks exactly the same!" Her hair had been in piggy tails for the day and mine in a bun - so when I took them both out we had the crazy hair. For Halle's sake...I hope this is one of the few times that our hair looks identical.

First Day of Preschool

Kyler was so excited for his first day of preschool on Monday. He woke up super early and had butterflies in his stomach all morning. I am doing a joy school with 5 other ladies in our ward. Kyler will have school three days a week for two hours a time. We will each take turns teaching in two week blocks. I will only have to teach in October and December. Three of the other moms have been school teachers - so I feel like Kyler will be getting a great school for free (impressive since the other preschools in our area are $100 a month). We are both very excited.

Summertime...and the livins' easy.

I went to the store yesterday and the swimming suit section was replaced with Columbia coats. Among others, this sight has caused me to wax sentimental over the days of summer and wonder where did our summer go? We have had so much fun and can't believe that tomorrow we will see the school bus driving by our house. Here are a few summer pictures that have not made the blog thus far, enjoy!
Dan's family has a cabin very close to Big Springs in Island Park. We were able to get away to the cabin twice this summer. It is one of Dan's favorite places on earth. This is a picture of Kyler looking at the fish at Big Springs.

The fish at Big Springs just wait at the bridge for food. Does this happen anywhere else? Our hillbilly family at the Redneck Reunion.

Kyler is in training to become the next Tiger Woods.

Me at my 10 year class reunion - I actually had a lot of fun. Everyone seemed to be in the same boat; 2 or 3 kids and just getting going in careers. Dan was a good sport and enjoyed the evening as well. Dan turned 27 in July and we were the same age for a little over a month. My sisters and Grandma at Suzy's bridal shower. We threw a great shower and were very proud of our entertaining abilities.

Our family waiting for Old Faithful to go. You can't have a summer in Eastern Idaho without visiting Yellowstone Park at least once. We have loved our garden this summer. As you can see, we have had squash coming out of our ears. I am starting to wonder what else I can possibly make with Zucchini.

Kyler, Halle and I loved swimming lessons this summer. Halle and I took a Mommy and Me class - so we all got in the water everyday. Kyler somehow managed to not put his head under the water the whole two weeks - he may be repeating the beginner class next year.

Oh how we enjoyed being on the boat this summer. It was so fun to ride the tube with Dan and Kyler.

Girl's Weekend

I had the best weekend ever! My three best friends from high school - Jenny, Ellen, Saundra and I got together for the weekend. This is a tradition for the four of us. Jenny hosted us at her home in Moscow this year. We all flew into Spokane and she picked us up for a wonderful weekend. We ate, talked, laughed, cried and had a fantastic time. I am so grateful for good friends and a great tradition. My friends are all wonderful wives and mothers and I love gleaning any advice from them that I can. I am already looking forward to next year!

Happy Birthday Hilary!!!

Yes, I know I hacked into your blog to wish you a happy birthday. I would like to make this post on behalf of Hilary's Birthday. Hilary is one of the sweetest people I know. She has more friends than anyone I know because people are drawn to her and she loves them all. I have never heard her talk bad about anyone, she is always happy even when she's pregnant, she wears the jazziest clothes and always looks great, and isn't afraid to be seen with me when I go to the store in my hat and no makeup. I could list a million things I love about Hilary, starting with how great a mom and wife she is , but I would honestly be here all day. I thought I would post this blog so everyone else could wish her a happy birthday and tell what their favorite thing about Hilary is. I know she is going to be so embarrassed, but in the words of Aunt Maxine, she deserves to have her bucket filled. Happy Birthday Hilary and I know you have already forgiven me, because you can't be mad at anyone for to long. I love you, Happy Birthday. Love, Heather

Oh, by the way...

NO, THIS IS NOT A PICTURE OF ME NOW (for proof, I now have long straight hair)... But this is a picture of what I may look like in a couple of months. The word is out...I am four months pregnant! They say three is a crowd and I guess I will soon see if this is true. This new little baby will be coming to our house at the end of January. We are all super excited and don't know if we want time to speed up or slow down.
As a note, this picture of was taken 4 hours before I had Halle. The day she was born, I went to my doctor for my regular appointment (3 weeks before her due date). The doctor told me I was so close to having her that he wouldn't let me go home to Archer (15 minutes away) to get my things (of course I had not packed a bag by this point). I sent Dan home to scrounge up a toothbrush and some pajamas and I went to Western's in shock. I took a few pictures to document the momentous occasion. As I look at the picture today, I wonder Where in the world was Halle? Seriously - I feel like I am going to be this big by tomorrow. I will have to compare pictures just before this little one is born.
So this is the big news in our family. Wish us luck!

Robison Redneck Reunion

We spent the week in Island Park for our annual Robison Reunion (my Mom's side of the family). Our family was in charge of it this year and we chose a Redneck theme. Everyone met at my Mom and Dad's house in Rexburg on Wednesday for the Redneck Kickoff and then we went to Island Park until Saturday. We had a great time decorating my parents yard with old couches, water cooler, tires galore, pop cans, old car, old snow machine with a clothesline attached to it, Christmas lights, you name it -we had it. Everyone dressed up in their best Redneck attire (complete with FAKE bums). During the reunion we went through Yellowstone Park, went boating in the Island Park Reservoir, and played Redneck games like horseshoes with hubcaps and seed spitting. There were nearly 60 of us in attendance. We have a great family and once again had a very successful reunion.

Dan, Lincoln and Rhett sitting on the bridge waiting for the company to arrive (yes their bums are fake, and yes, they were hilarious!)The other half of the welcoming committee. Zach and Todd set up a spit and were roasting a bird. Notice Zach's 9th grade mesh football jersey. The front yard. Can you get anymore Redneck than this?

This is Dan's creation - it is a TV on a homemade TV stand. He found an old Satellite Dish and had a real cable running from it to the TV. How authentic!

Zach, Dan and Lincoln hauled this old car from the junkyard for the finishing touch.

Wyatt and Ashlie

My little brother Wyatt is engaged! His fiance is named Ashlie and she is from Newdale (just up the road from Rexburg). They flew to New York City and he proposed on top of the Empire State Building at night - after a Broadway show. What a romantic! We are so excited for the two of them and can't wait to have Ashlie a part of the family. They will be married on September 22nd in the Idaho Falls Temple. My family is getting really good at this wedding stuff - this makes 6 of 8!

Her Arm...My Heart

So we had a little mishap on Monday. Halle was playing at a friends house when she fell off of a little chair onto her arm. She was so sad all evening - I knew something was not right but didn't think 2 year old bones broke when falling from such short distances. I took her to Urgent Care first thing Tuesday morning...and her arm was BROKEN! They told me it was out of line and would have to be set. We went to the orthopedic bone specialist today to have it looked at and to get her cast. My prayers must have been answered, because he decided that her arm was straight enough and did not need set. Her break is just above her wrist, yet she has a full-length cast because 2 year-old's can wiggle out of anything. Halle, Kyler, and I went to the store this morning and picked out a special dolly for her. We took the dolly to the doctor and asked to have the dolly's arm casted as well. Halle is so proud of her cast and her dolly she can hardly stand it. She has done great and has not been slowed down by it a bit. I am so proud of her.

Halle and her temporary splint.

Halle and dolly with matching bright pink casts.
