A Pre-Thanksgiving Visit

It was such a treat to have one of my very best friends ever , Ellen, stop by to visit on her way home for Thanksgiving. Her kids are darling, her husband is great, and Ellen is the best Mom ever. We didn't get to spend nearly enough time together. I can't wait for my next girl's weekend to see her again! Thanks for the visit Ellen!

Golfing with the Guys

Today Dan and Kyler went golfing with Uncle Monte and cousin Logan. They golfed all 9 holes and had a blast. Kyler called me on the way home and said, "Mom, that was the awesomest think I have ever done in my whole life!" I am sure it will be a day he will remember forever.

Six Years and Counting...

Dan and I just celebrated our 6th Anniversary. I can hardly believe it! Our love affair started when I asked him to the Bobcat Boogie on November 9, 1996. Little did we know that would be a date that would live in infamy. We dated for 3 years before Dan left on his mission (I was his first date upon turning 16). I waited for him on his mission and we were married 5 years from our first date on November 9, 2001. It has been a great 11 years and we are looking forward to many more to come.

This is a picture of my Senior Prom - Dan was a Junior. Can you be believe all of those ringlets? I literally curled my hair for hours. How about those bangs? Do we look like little kids or what? This was our engagement picture - taken just shortly after Dan got home from his mission. Do you think we have changed in 6 years?

This is the most up-to-date photo I could find. It is from July and obviously not current as I am now nearly 7 months pregnant. We will make a goal to get some current pictures posted soon.

Dan - My Man

I consider myself one of the luckiest girls in the world because I am married to Dan. Here are a few examples of why he is the best!
He took Kyler to the Home Depot for Children's project day and built a Pirate Ship. How cute is that? (My friend Ellen told me about Home Depot project days over a year ago...I was finally able to remember and get Ky and Dan there. For all you handy parents - The Home Depot has building days for kids on the 1st Saturday of each month from 9 to 11. The projects are impressive and kids love it! Thanks for the inspiration Ellen!)

He raked the millions of leaves in our front yard and jumped in them with Kyler. He is still a little boy at heart.

He is Halle's hero and he takes her with him wherever he can. (This is a picture of the two of them enjoying the corn maze).

He is an incredible athlete. This is a picture of his championship winning flag football team - he caught 3 touchdowns in their award winning game. He is also currently playing on a city league volleyball team, signed up for city league basketball, and will be coaching the Young Men's basketball team. (I hope there are enough nights in a week for all of his extracurricular activities).

I love you Dan!

Dear 2nd Trimester...

Dear 2nd Trimester:

It's been fun. It is with very mixed emotions that I move into the ranks of your counterpart, 3rd trimester. You have been good to me. I wish to thank you for the following: No one has asked me if I am due at any second, you have kept your spells of passing-out to a minimum (of which I am truly grateful), and with the help of my pal, Unisom, you have allowed many nights of 8 hour sleep. It is no secret to your friends, 1st and 3rd trimesters, that you are my favorite.

Don't get me wrong - trimester #3 has her perks as well: the light is at the end of the tunnel, sweat pants are an acceptable fashion, and people are smart enough not to ask if I just got my wisdom teeth out (substantial weight gain in the cheek area or should I say areas). If by chance the two of you have any meeting while the proverbial torch is being passed, please relay the following: heartburn is not essential - I can live without it... sleep is essential - I cannot live without it... is it possible to keep the weight gain to a minimum? - the term "large whale" need not apply...passing out is not cool, safe, or "unique"...and lastly there is no reason to by like my Mom and have babies 6 weeks early...I would like to place my order for two weeks early if possible. So 2nd tri- could you be a dove and pass this information along?

Just so you know, I am apprehensive about moving on to the next milestone. I wouldn't mind staying with you just a titch longer this go-round...but I know it is not meant to be.

So, my friend, until baby #4 I bid you a fond farewell.

With Love,

Hilary

SuperDan, SuperKy, and HallePig

We had a great Halloween! Our day was full of parties, trick or treating, trunk or treating, RV or treating, you name it, we did it. Here is the proof:

Is that a bird, a plane? no it is SuperMan! Or SuperDan as I like to call him. It is a requirement that they dress up at the bank every year. He was very apprehensive about it all - but he pulled it off with style. Notice the curl on his forehead.

Kyler was Super Why this year. If you are not in the 3-5 year-old age group or are a stay-at-home Mom who thrives on PBS, you will have no idea who this is. Super Why and his friends are Super Readers who have the "Power to Read". It is on at 9 0'clock every morning and I think my kids have literally seen every episode. I didn't know how or want to make green spandex pants for him, so I found these warm-ups and convinced him to go as "Basketball playing Super Why."

One of Super Why's friends is Alpha Pig (he has the power to spell). Halle decided a long time ago that she was the pig and there was no way of changing her mind to be the Princess. She loved being "Halle Pig" and surprisingly kept her nose on at all times.

As you can see, I opted for the homemade costumes this year out of necessity. There was no chance of finding the Super Readers at Target.
